New Black Panther menacing with night stick at Philadelphia polling station on Nov. 4, 2008 deemed legal. Men were just told don't do it again until after 2012 elections-Washington Post, Oct. 2010

"On Election Day 2008, Maruse Heath [King Samir Shabazz], the leader of Philadelphia's New Black Panther Party, stood in front of a neighborhood polling place, dressed in a paramilitary uniform.

Within hours, an amateur video showing Heath [his name is King Samir Shabazz], slapping a black nightstick and exchanging words with the videographer [identified on the video as a University of Pennsylvania student], had aired on TV."...

The University of Pennsylvania student reporter approached the man with the club and politely asked him what organization he represented. The man with the club said, "security."

No voter irregularities were claimed. The only consequence was the men were banned "from standing in front of U.S. polling places with a weapon or wearing the party uniform...through the 2012 elections."

10/22/2010, "Dispute over New Black Panthers case causes deep divisions," Washington Post, by Jerry Markon and Krissah Thompson

"On Election Day 2008, Maruse Heath [King Samir Shabazz], the leader of Philadelphia's New Black Panther Party, stood in front of a neighborhood polling place, dressed in a paramilitary uniform

Within hours, an amateur video showing Heath [his name is King Samir Shabazz], slapping a black nightstick and exchanging words with the videographer [identified on the video as a University of Pennsylvania student], had aired on TV and ricocheted across the nation.

Among those who saw the footage was J. Christian Adams, who was in his office in the Justice Department's Civil Rights Division in Washington.

"I thought, 'This is wrong, this is not supposed to happen in this country,' " Adams said. "There are armed men in front of a polling place, and I need to find out if they violated the law, because in my mind there's a good chance that they did."...

p. 5, On Jan. 7, 2009, less than two weeks before Obama took office, the Justice Department filed a lawsuit seeking a permanent injunction against Heath [King Samir Shabazz], Jackson, Malik Shabazz, the (New Black Panther) party's national chairman and the party, banning them from standing in front of U.S. polling places with a weapon or wearing the party uniform.

Although the Panthers later denied intimidating voters, they said nothing about the lawsuit. On April 2, the court clerk in Philadelphia entered a "default" against the defendants for failure to respond. The Justice Department had one month to file a motion for a final judgement. A ruling on that motion would have ended the case.

Instead, the department on May 15 (2009) dismissed the charges against Jackson, Malik Shabazz and the party without citing a reason. It sought to narrow the injunction against Heath
[King Samir Shabazz] to polling places in Philadelphia through the 2012 elections. That was granted three days later."...

"Mobster wisdom tells us never to bring a knife to a gun fight. But what does political wisdom say about bringing a gun to a knife fight?

That’s exactly
what Barack Obama said he would do to counter Republican attacks.

  • we bring a gun," Obama said at a Philadelphia fundraiser Friday night.
Because from what I understand folks in Philly like a good brawl. I’ve seen Eagles fans.”"

King Samir Shabazz in jail again:

July 2, 2014, "Controversial black supremacist busted again," Philadelphia Daily News, Dana DiFilippo

"MINISTER KING Samir Shabazz, the notorious black supremacist and leader of the New Black Panther Party's Philadelphia chapter, is in jail again.

Trenton police arrested him after officers - serving an outstanding warrant out of Atlantic City - found a 9 mm handgun, 30 rifle rounds and one armor-piercing bullet in a room where he was staying in the city's Battle Monument neighborhood, spokesman Lt. Mark Kieffer said.

It was the second gun arrest in a year for Shabazz, 42, whose real name is Maruse Heath. That means Shabazz is considered a probation violator in New York City, where he was arrested in June 2013 after officers spotted him wearing a bulletproof vest in Harlem and carrying a loaded, unlicensed handgun.

Shabazz now is being held in the Mercer County jail, charged with gun offenses; he faces extradition to New York City for the probation violations.

Malik Zulu Shabazz, who stepped down from his post as national chairman of the New Black Panther Party to be president of the Black Lawyers for Justice, didn't return a call from the Daily News, but he wrote on Facebook that he will fight to free Minister King Samir Shabazz, who he said was being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Besides his rants at rallies and on black-power radio shows supporting "cracker-killing," Shabazz is best known for sparking a federal probe for voter intimidation after he brought a billy club to a North Philly polling place on Election Day 2008.

The incident prompted party leaders to briefly suspend Shabazz and the Philly chapter. But both were reinstated in 2010, with Shabazz being promoted to "national field marshal."

In that post, he has spread his "Kill Whitey" message across the country, urging blacks to create militias to exterminate whites, skin them alive, pour acid on them, sic pit bulls on them, bust their heads with rocks and even raid nurseries to "kill everything white in sight."

Two days before his June 19 arrest in Trenton, he preached and took calls for nearly three hours on the Afrikkan Supremacy Blogtalk Radio Show, saying: "Never give up on this goddamn cracker. Never ease up. Never smooth things out for him." He also announced he was working on an autobiography and planned to visit North Carolina this weekend to start a New Black Panther Party chapter in Charlotte, N.C.

Shabazz had been arrested at least four times in Philadelphia, including one weapons arrest, according to court records."...
